The Queens College Conducting Workshop
A short ride away from New York City, the Queens College Conductors Workshop (QCCW) is a training ground for emerging and established conductors alike. Conductors have 150 minutes of podium time, working regularly with the QCCW Festival Orchestra, our professional-level, highly responsive orchestra. Conducting Fellows will receive critiques, coaching, and hands-on lessons from the faculty and participate in lectures, and score study session. We will also tour the New York Philharmonic Archives, where marked scores by former NYPhil music directors are placed on view, and the Columbia University Archives.
New works will be performed each session with the composers present, helping to give insight into what composers expect to see as their scores come to life. This year, fellows will continue to work with composer Bruce Saylor on his Violin Concerto, a project three workshops in the making!
The workshop takes place in the beautiful LeFrak Concert Hall, one of the best acoustic spaces in the New York Area.
